Decision Points, George W. Bush

I found it relevant that President Bush made decisions based on the information that was given to him. In everyday life, we make decisions based on what we know, feel and believe. In our work lives, our decisions are based on information from fellow co-workers.

I have been very intrigued by how President Bush came to the decision he made as the sitting president under the worst homeland attack since Pearl Harbor. I was most interested in seeing his point of view, and not that of the media. My eyes have been opened to the logic behind his decisions, his determination, love of country, and also the turmoil he experience on sending young Americans into battle.

The 4-Hour Body, Timothy Ferriss

I saw Timothy Ferriss on the Dr. Oz show and was fascinated by three simple suggestions he offered to lose weight – tiny changes that produce big results. As a Certified Fitness Trainer & Nutrition Specialist, I picked up the book to see if any of it worked. I can honestly say that picking one or two items out of the book to incorporate into your life will make big healthy changes. I have adapted the slow-carb eating plan into my life and love it!

The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown

While a work of fiction, this book combines nail-biting suspense with an enthralling history of Washington, D.C. and the founding fathers of the United States. Brown offers historical facts as well as myths and theories to drawn a picture vivid enough to keep readers engrossed from beginning to end as Robert Langdon (the returning main character from The DaVinci Code) risks life and limb to save a friend and protect the “wisdom of the ages.” As someone who has always been interested in U.S. history, I found that this book entertains and teaches, making it one of the more memorable stories I have read in some time.
