When MTV took its hit television show Pimp My Ride on the road in 2005, the Specialty Fabrication department at Access provided the structures needed to make the experience a success. In what continues to be one of the largest single metal projects completed at Access to date, the tour offered our fabrications specialist the opportunity to engage and conquer a new set of challenges.
The greatest feat? Creating a system of arches guests could walk through, using aluminum sheet and tubing, that stood 43' wide and 20' high. And, because the structure was set to be on display in Miami, it was ready to withstand 100 mph winds if necessary. The Pimp My Ride event offered Access an opportunity to showcase our new processes, and create a unique outdoor event that brought our engineering standards to new heights.
