30 Causes, Week 19: Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism

Week 19 of ’30 Causes’ goes to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism! Established in 1998 by former NFL quarterback Doug Flutie and his wife Laurie, in honor of their son Doug Jr., who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, the foundation has worked towards assisting similar families with the resources needed to provide a happy and rewarding life for those on the spectrum. The foundation also awards grants to nonprofit organizations that provide education, advocacy, recreational services and similar initiatives, with over $9 million distributed throughout New England and other parts of North America to date.
