30 Causes, Week 9: Lupus Foundation of America

Week 9’s winner of our ’30 Causes’ campaign is awarded to the Lupus Foundation of America! Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that affects an estimated 1.5 million people in the US alone, and could be even greater given the ambiguity of the disease along with lack of large-scale studies. The foundation’s goal is to improve quality of life for lupus sufferers, while supporting community fundraising efforts as well as disease research and treatments. Locally, the Lupus Foundation of America has chapters in the Dallas and Atlanta areas, and the family of a colleague has been directly affected by this terrible disease.
