30 Causes, Week 12: Wounded Warrior Project

This week’s winner of our ’30 Causes’ campaign is the Wounded Warrior Project. Founded in 2003 by retired serviceman John Melia, the project started with Melia distributing backpacks filled with simple comfort items such a new socks, t-shirts, toiletries, playing cards, etc. The backpacks still remain one of WWP’s most popular support packages, with over 16k distributed as of 2013; however, since its inception, WWP has provided wounded veterans with family assistance, peer support for psychological trauma through ‘Project Odyssey’ and many more beneficial programs all aimed at providing veterans with a comfortable recovery and peace of mind. Friends and family of Access TCA have benefitted greatly from the Wounded Warrior Project’s initiatives.
